#11- CLEAVERS, Galium acarine

Cleavers are a wonderful annual wild spring green that are known for their tasty green tips and their ability to stimulate and cleanse the lymphatic system. For Lyme folk, it is of the utmost importance that we keep things moving. If our lymphs become stagnant then toxins hang around and it becomes harder to get things following again. Gentle Cleavers helps stimulate pathways to release build up. Cleavers are also well known for their helpful and cooling effect on the urinary tract system. Cleavers are often combined with Marshmallow root to help bring comfort to the irritated urinary system.

CLEAVERS, Galium acarine

Part 2:

There are two Galiums that I use:

Galium acarine that is commonly called to as “Cleavers” which likes part-sun or shade in WNC
Galium odoratum that is commonly called Sweet Woodruff ~Mother Earth Living has a informative article on Sweet Woodruff. Sweet Woodruff likes deep shade in WNC.

I prefer the taste of Galium acarine!

It is so important to have an herb Identification book or to be working with an experienced herbalist to double check that you’ve got the right plant! I like to use Peterson Field Guides
