Candida is an opportunistic pathogenic yeast that is a common member of the human gut flora but it can become pathogenic in immunocomprimised individuals which results in an overgrowth of the fungus. It thrives in biofilms which can be a challenege for those infected with Lyme disease.

Some physicians will prescribe anti fungal medications, however, Dr. Shoemakers’ latest research says that pharmacutical antifungal use can be one of the worst set backs for Lyme patients.

Herbs like turmeric, olive leaf, garlic, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, pau d’arco, oregano, calendula, neem, and thyme may help fight off yeast overgrowth and support a healthy balance of yeast in the gut.
